Reworked the Animatic some more, adding more shots, editing some continuity errors and adjusted a few shots for better timing. Just rendering it of. Also began preparing for the presentation. A lot of work yet to do before end of April so will crack on! Anyhow will post the Animatic back up in next few days as soon as the tutor has looked at it.

Decided to take on board the creation of a book as an animated film pitch/tie in. Therefore over the next few weeks will be working on that rather than creating Ian. I am still a month ahead on schedule so I am doing fine.
Also re edited the Animatic for better timing in places and took out some unnecessary bits near the beginning. Will uploaded it in next few days after checking with my tutor. I was rather worried about the 180 rule in a certain place, however the nature of the statement “30 years” is heightened with the character Audrey looking through the window at the caravan and doesn’t appear to be jarring at all. It seems more perhaps like a statement or absent thought rather than part of the same conversation with Ian, Audrey and Darren. Also edited the part with Audrey’s first Monologue, where she says “no point in having dreams” etc so that the zoom is not much.

Finally finished encoding the Animatic and uploaded to youtube and the website. It can be viewed at

I am pleased with the results however there are a few mistakes. But since this is just for timing and sounds editing I am not too worried. All in all it works well and I think I have given it good pacing. Next step is to compile my show reel (still rendering) and work on the report, before getting ready for my first presentation. Hopefully be able to begin working on the next character model (probably Ian) during the next few weeks also.

I have pretty much finished the first draft of the Animatic. Edited the shots down and added the sound. It was a thoroughly enjoyable process. Adding sound effects to certain sections such as the flute when the Elmy’s appear really heighten and add depth to the story. As well as using sound samples from online I created some myself using my phone and bike, and also a microphone for some banging noises that I could not find online. I am just rendering the peice so will hopefully have it up on youtube by tomorrow night.
